Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, corrects loose skin, puffiness, and sagging around the eyes. It’s one of the most effective ways to refresh your appearance and reduce the tired, heavy look that can develop with age or genetics. It can be done on either the upper or lower eyelid, or both. It can be done alone or with other procedures to the eye, face, eyebrow, or nose.

At Appleby Plastic Surgery, we offer upper and lower eyelid surgery, performed individually or together, to help you look more awake, alert, and rested. Each surgical plan is carefully tailored to your anatomy and goals, with a focus on preserving your natural eye shape and expression.

(Blepharoplasty,
Upper and Lower Eyelid Lift)

Blepharoplasty removes or repositions skin, fat, and muscle from the eyelids to reduce heaviness and puffiness. We use discreet incisions and refined closure techniques to minimize visible scarring. It cannot remove wrinkles or “crow’s feet.” It does not fix dark circles under the eyes or lift sagging eyebrows. Chemical peels, laser resurfacing, or other skin treatments can fix minor wrinkles.

works—

how it

This procedure is typically done under local anesthesia with sedation, and takes one to two hours.

Upper eyelid surgery

to lift droopy or hooded lids.

Lower eyelid surgery

to smooth under-eye bags or excess skin.

Combined upper and lower blepharoplasty

for comprehensive eye rejuvenation.

Complementary procedures

like a Brow Lift or non-surgical treatments.

In general, here’s what most eyelid surgery patients experience:

Swelling and bruising around the eyes.

A feeling of tightness or dryness for a few days.

Use of cold compresses and eye drops.

Removal of stitches 5 to 7 days post-surgery.

Return to light activity and desk work within one week

why choose

Incisions are placed in natural folds and along the lash line. Most fade significantly and are difficult to detect once healed.

Can this improve vision?

If heavy upper lids interfere with your vision, surgery may improve your visual field. We can assess this during your consultation.

What’s the difference between upper and lower eyelid surgery?

Upper blepharoplasty lifts excess skin from the upper lid. Lower blepharoplasty removes or smooths under-eye bags and loose skin.

Can I combine eyelid surgery with other procedures?

Yes. Many patients combine it with a Brow Lift, Facelift, or injectable treatments for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

FAQs ABOUT

Does blepharoplasty fix functional eyelid issues?

No. Other surgeries can be done to fix eyelid function problems. Such problems could include drooping eyelids owing to muscle problems (eyelid ptosis) or looseness between the eyelid and eyeball (ectropion).
