Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reduces the size or reshapes the inner labia (labia minora). It’s often done to relieve physical discomfort during activities like exercise or intimacy, to address changes after childbirth or aging, relieve pinching or chafing, and to restore confidence in your body.
At Appleby Plastic Surgery, we treat labiaplasty with care, sensitivity, and technical precision. You’ll be heard without judgment, and supported through every step of your experience.
Labiaplasty typically involves trimming or reshaping the labia minora so that they sit flush with, or just inside, the labia majora. The goal is to improve symmetry, reduce excess tissue, and relieve irritation caused by twisting, tugging, or friction.
Women have hormonal changes due to pregnancy, puberty, menopause, and age that can affect the size and color of these tissues, as well as result in atrophic changes and asymmetry.
The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, and takes approximately one hour.
In select patients, this procedure can be performed under local anesthesia alone, which will significantly reduce the cost of the operation.
Dissolvable sutures are used to avoid the need for suture removal.
